This country has so much natural beauty and the tourists are starting to discover it. The Germans (the fourth reich I call them) are here, as they are everywhere, especially in their motor homes. But the country still remains a bit of a mystery to the rest of the world.
The coastline at the southern end is quite spectacular. Not as brilliantly beautiful as the Croatian and Montenegrin coasts but the Albanian one is very varied along the 125 kms stretch between Vlore and Saranda.
The Llogara Pass, is a high mountain pass with a spectacular winding road, at elevation 1,043m and overlooking the Ionian coast of the Albanian riviera. The coastal drive includes this amazing national park.
All along the 125 kms, the coastal road rises and dips, sometimes up high and sometimes down at sea level with beaches and bays along the way. Rising from the coastline is a rocky hinterland of steep mountains and valleys. It is an amazingly varied car trip.
