Two Aussies enjoying Norwegian friluftsliv

We had a nice outing this morning to Lake Sognsvann in outer Oslo.  The efficient public transport system took us and Charlie all the way.

I was explaining to a Norwegian lady that dogs were not allowed on public transport in Australia and she very sensibly asked "Why not?"  Why not indeed?  All over Europe people are allowed to take their pets on trams, buses and the metro but in the antipodes it is forbidden, for some unknown reason.  I understand in France they are also allowed in restaurants and cafes and no Frenchman has come down with any dog induced illness.  Anyway, here we are on our way to outdoor frolicking.

Just outside the Metro were two figures asking for donations for some worthy cause in Bangladesh.  Their blown up balloon costumes were very eye catching although Charlie found them threatening and he barked at them furiously.

The lake is nice and tranquil and we all did the 3 1/2 kms circuit around it.  After much debate we let Charlie off leash and he was a very happy dog.  There were some other dogs there but we allowed no doggy interface or undue sniffing in the bushes.

There were many people doing the walk around the lake, clearly enjoying their friluftsliv.
