Sampling Swedish food

Another jaunt into town on the motorised scooter was compulsory and to have a coffee at the outside cafe in the town square.  Too many photos of us to include here but a piccie of the local morning tea fare of tiny miniscule brownies and a larger eco ball of oatmeal and raspberry does seem appropriate.

Tonight's meal of as yet frozen moose from Tommy's freezer.  It was shot by either him or another hunting friend.  Once thawed, I cut the meat into strips and it is currently sitting in a strong marinade supplied by Annabrita.  I understand the marinade serves the purpose of tenderising the meat as well as perhaps to disguise the strong gamey taste?  Our communication skills were not strong enough to fully explore the true purpose of the marinade.  There will be a photo coming of the finished cooked meal tonight.

Cooking in the pot.

The meal on the table.  I found that the dish was very tasty but it largely disguised the taste of the meat.  We do not cover kangaroo meat in a marinade because we like the taste of the meat itself.  Not sure of motives of the Swedes for covering moose meat in a marinade - to take away taste or toughness?  I may not get many more chances to try moose meat so, this may have to do.  But we are grateful to Tommy for letting us try his "kill".

Nothing to do with food but this is my last moments with Alistair.  Very sad to say goodbye to this cute little furball.
