Driving back towards Madrid

We were very lucky to have come to Barcelona when we did, even though it was a Monday and some things were shut.  On Tuesday morning the rain came pelting down.  It would not have been fun to sight-see in the rain.  Leaving the city was pretty ghastly with the early morning traffic but we managed.

On this trip we loved Catalonia the most.  It is a close call between it and Andalusia which is our very favourite Spanish region.  Cordoba and Seville take a lot to compete with.

We drove through Teruel and would liked to have stayed the night but parking in the old city was too hard and we had had a big day of walking the previous day so we chickened out.  I managed to take a photo of the viaduct in the middle of the city and a quick glimpse of one of the buildings.  The city is the centre piece of Mudejar architecture.  Mudejar refers to the style of architecture using elements of Islamic building style applied to buildings constructed in Christian Spain.  It is a style of architecture unique to Spain.

We then drove on to Albarracin and the road was very pretty along the way.
