Farewell Oslo and farewell Charlie

This is likely to be our last post from Oslo.  We leave for our train journey to Bergen on Saturday 21 Sept to catch the Hurtigruten boat for the cruise up the west coast of Norway.  Unfortunately, once again in our travels, a marathon gets in the way of smooth travel.  Two years ago, the ultramarathon from Athens to Sparta seriously interfered with accommodation in Sparta.  This time the trams in our district Skillebekk are not running this Saturday morning interfering with our journey to the Oslo Central Station.  We will have to walk as far as the underground as not even taxis will be able to get through the blocked roads.

We are very pleased that Jane and Ofer asked us to dog sit here in Oslo.  Not only have we had the chance to enjoy the delightful Charlie and all the walks he and Andrew went on, but we also had the chance to get to enjoy a city we had no plans of ever visiting.  Oslo turned out to be a delightful surprise, a boutique city, easy to get around, welcoming and very cosmopolitan and sophisticated.  We enjoyed living at Skillebekk in their warm, comfortable apartment, pretending to be Norwegians for a fortnight.

We will seriously miss this lovely vizsla.  Even though he doesn't understand a word of Hungarian.
