Menorca - change of country, temperature and pace

Arrived in Menorca yesterday.  One could hardly imagine a more different environment than between Norway and Spain.  Our luggage sadly did not arrive as we did.  This is becoming a recurring nightmare in our travels.  We went away empty handed from the airport but they turned up today, so all is well.  We could at last change into summer gear after six weeks in Scandinavia.  Away with the beanie and on with the cozzie.

Here we are sitting by the pool, me sipping a sangria and Andrew is having a  Love on the Beach.  Don't ask me what goes into these drinks but they all alcoholic to some degree.

The swimming pool across the road from the actual hotel itself.  This bridge holiday is what they call all inclusive.  Three meals a day and all day alcohol on tap until the bar closes at 11:00pm.  Last night I had a hot chocolate with brandy and it was a delicious nightcap.  The food is nice Spanish food and all you can eat at every meal.  We have been doing this for a while now and it will be difficult going back to plain home cooking with a finite amount on the plate.

The terrace part of the restaurant where we have our meals. It has a nice outlook over the beach.

It is a rocky beach and you need to get into the water from ladders.

We went for a short walk towards the nearest headland.

The headland.

  1. Sounds lovely and warm and what a good deal with meals and alcohol. Enjoy the bridge and the new environment! We are on our last day in Oslo and very much enjoying it. Doing the rounds of the museum, and walking a lot everyday, enjoying the attractive, and realively low rise city with all its sculptures and quirky buildings. Off to Copenhagen tonight on the ferry. Lorraine and Ken.
