California redwoods

The northwest of California is full of these wonderful redwood trees, acres and acres of state parks - thankfully open as they are not national - and we drove through them at our leisure gazing heavenward along the way.








Look how we are dwarfed by the Founders' tree.








Hollow tree.  These giants stay alive in spite of such occurrences at their footings.

This one below is one of the biggest in terms of age and width - 26ft in diameter.
