The north California Coast

The winding, serpentine coastal drive from Fort Bragg down to Bodega Bay and then on to Mill Valley is no less spectacular than its more famous counterpart, the famous Big Sur - between Los Angeles and San Francisco, where we drove on our last trip two years ago.  Highway 1 along the northern coast is just as challenging and rewarding with every gorgeous, white-knuckled mile.  The coast has a jagged edge and the frothing waters way way below are simply stunning.

We camped along the beach at Van Damme State Park and rubbed shoulders with abalone-fishing young people who shared their delicious meal with us.

Our Tioga Tiger is actually the 9th vehicle from the left, with its nose towards the sea.

And this shot is of the beach and parked vehicles taken  from above.

This photo is of the abalone fishermen kayaking in the tunnel to the sinkhole near the beach.
