More Budapest buildings

St Stephen's Basilica - 54 years of design, 96 meters high and opened in 1884. Concerts are often staged here with the auditorium having the third best acoustics in Europe and can seat 1300 people.

The view approaching it.

Inside view and below, the dome

The Museum of Applied Arts founded in 1872, the third such institution to be opened in Europe.  Look at the wonderful roof.

Something more prosaic - my old home on the fifth floor of 25 Sobieski Janos utca, off Ulloi ut.

And this magnificent building houses McDonald's.  Surely it is the most handsome home for a McDonald's in the world?

It is the former cafeteria of the Nyugati Palyaudvar (Western Railway Station).

The inside view.  In case anyone missed it, this is a Mcdonald's restaurant!

Not a building but a whimsical photo of Warwick and Diana with a statue of a rotund turn of the century policeman.

  1. Loved the dome at the The Museum of Applied Arts!
And that ex-Railway Station is wasted on McDonalds - although it looks like they've done a good job with the decor. Any Hungarian specialties on the menu?
